Late Tuesday night I went to bed relieved. It was the first election night since 2000 that I wasn't in despair. It was a nice feeling.
Wednesday I woke to find out that Claire McKaskill had won and it looked like the Senate was going to go our way. That felt kind of nice. But, as my husband and I discussed, neither of us could really believe this had all happened and both of us were waiting for the other shoe to drop.
By today I realized that my ability to feel positive or happy in the realm of politics is a skill that will have to be relearned.
